Our Story

Trauma Illinois get its name from an ICU hospital bed and the band members of Fall Out Boy.

A horrible car accident landed the entire crew in the hospital. For most of the band members, it was some sprains and a few broken bones.

The singer, Jack, got the worst of it. On the way to the hospital, he died and was resuscitated in the ambulance. He then spent several touch and go days in the ICU.

At the Cincinnati Children's hospital, when trauma patients arrive without identification, they name them after states to track their care. On that day, he became Trauma patient Illinois.

Over the next few days, he improved and the incident not only strengthened the bond between members, but it shaped the identity of the band.

As luck would have it, Fall Out Boy was playing the Ryan Seacrest studio at Children's Hospital at the same time. They caught word of the fellow musicians' plight and fashioned a get well photo. (the sign says "Jack get well! and Trauma Illinois") They suggested Trauma Illinois as the band name.

The band would later return themselves to the Cincinnati Children's Ryan Seacrest theater and play a gig there the following year, as well as the Children's Atlanta version, shown below.

In 2019, they would play the Bunbury music festival with Fall Out Boy.

Our Message

Peace, Love, Music and Mayhem.
Maximizing the human experience via relentless Cultural Disobedience, fueled by irony, undisclosed psychedelic compounds and rejection of ideology.

We are a rock & roll band with classic rock influences. We combine the hook driven melodies of classic rock with modern alt rock lyrical edges. Instead of an overblown description.....you can have a listen here

Garrett Crider: Drums and Vocals
